Privacy Policy
Effective October 13, 2026
This site is operated by the team behind the Dr. Insanity YouTube channel (“Dr. Insanity”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect on this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. YouTube, GoFundMe and other platforms have their own policies. Questions: [email protected].
Case submissions. When you send a tip or payout lead we collect what you enter: case details (victim or case name, location, police agency, officers, your story and sources), any files you upload, and the contact details you choose to give us (name, email, your connection to the case). Contact details are optional for tips and required for payout leads.
Sensitive information. Tips about criminal cases can include sensitive details, such as health information or someone being a crime victim. We only use sensitive information you share about yourself with your consent, which you give with a checkbox when you submit. Please do not upload Social Security numbers, ID or passport numbers, bank details or medical records unless they are essential to the tip.
Job applications. When you apply to work with us we collect what you enter: your name, email, country or city, languages, the role and availability you choose, links to your work, and what you tell us about your experience. Please share links only to work you have the right to show us.
Payout tax details. If a payout lead is approved, we may ask for identity and tax information (such as a Form W-9 or W-8) where tax law requires it. We keep these separately, with access limited to the people who process payments.
Website analytics and security logs. We record limited first-party analytics about page visits (the page, the referring page, device type, and a one-way hashed visitor ID). Like any website, our servers and our network provider log technical information such as IP addresses for security.
Donations. Our donation links go to GoFundMe. We do not take card payments on this site, and we do not receive your payment details.
- To review, verify, research and report on cases, which may include producing videos.
- To contact you about your submission if you asked us to, or about a payout lead.
- To pay approved payout leads and meet tax obligations.
- To consider job applicants for current and future roles, and to contact them about it.
- To run, secure and improve the website, and to prevent abuse.
- To comply with the law.
We may refer to facts from submissions in published videos. We do not publish your name, contact details or other identifying details without your permission.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
We share information only with:
- Service providers that run the site for us under their own data-protection terms: Cloudflare (network security and delivery; all site traffic passes through it), Vultr (hosting; our servers are in London, UK), Discord (sign-in for our staff only), Google Fonts (delivers the site’s fonts and receives your IP address to do so), Resend (sends our team a short alert when a tip arrives — case name and state only, never your details — and a count of new job applications, never applicant details), and our email provider when we write to you.
- Tax authorities, for payout records where the law requires it.
- Others only when legally required, as described under “Protecting our sources” below.
- We will not publish your name or identifying details without your permission.
- We will not voluntarily share your identity with police, with people involved in the case, or with anyone outside our team.
- If we receive a legal demand for your submission or identity, we will get legal advice, use the legal protections available to us, and tell you where the law allows.
- You can send a tip without giving your name. Payout leads need contact and tax details.
We cannot promise complete anonymity: like any website, our systems record technical data such as IP addresses in security logs, and our providers can be served with legal process.
We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as the law requires, and do not keep or share it otherwise.
Our website and backups run on servers in London, UK, operated by US-based providers. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Uploaded files are stored privately and can only be opened by a small number of staff who sign in with two-factor authentication, and that access is logged. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
We keep submissions for as long as we need them to review and research the case and to keep an accurate record of what we received and when. If you ask us to delete your submission, we will, unless we need to keep it for a legal or tax obligation, a dispute, or work we have already published. Backup copies are deleted automatically within 60 days. Payout tax records are kept for the period tax law requires. Job applications are kept while we consider you for current and future roles; ask us at any time and we will delete yours.
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information you submitted, withdraw your consent, or ask us not to contact you. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If we decline a request, you can ask us to reconsider by replying to that email. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law.
This site does not track you across other websites, so it does not respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals. We do not allow advertising networks or other third parties to collect information about your activity on this site for tracking you over time or across other websites.
This site is for adults, and you must be 18 or older to submit a tip or apply. If we learn we have received personal information from a child under 13, we delete it.
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will say so at the top of this page.
